Early Childhood Education Orientation (ECE 1001)

This introductory course provides the minimum training required by Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Education in order to work as a child daycare worker. The course is 140 hours in length and has an emphasis on the content and best practices in three core areas child guidance, play and exploration and health, safety and nutrition. It also incorporates the Ministry’s Play and Exploration Early Learning Program Guide, the curriculum framework for all early childhood programs in the province. This course is based on the same foundation that guides the SIAST Early Childhood Education certificate program (ECE II) and diploma program (ECE III). Students who complete the course and are subsequently accepted into the SIAST Early Childhood Education certificate program will receive credit for 3 courses.
