Advanced Digital Darkroom (PHOT 1637)

You will look at advanced techniques to manipulate, colour correct and enhance your images with Adobe Photoshop. You will learn various design techniques to create multiple image composites. You will also explore RAW image conversion tools and the advantages of working with RAW images.

You will look at computer components and software options for operating a digital darkroom. Learn how to import, crop, manipulate, color correct and enhance images using Adobe Photoshop. You will also explore how to catalogue your images and explore techniques to calibrate the components of a digital photographic system.

GATF - Sheetfed Offset Press Training

SIAST Wascana Campus is pleased to facilitate the GATF Sheetfed Offset Press Training Program. You will be able to work through the resource material independently continuing to work at your workplace. Upon completion of the program, you will be able to write a comprehensive theory exam, which will be evaluated by GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Program) in Pittsburgh, PA. Successful participants will be awarded a certificate directly from GATF, which has international recognition.

Photography 1 and 2 Beginner (PHOT 1633)

Want to take better pictures with your camera? Want to know what a digital camera can do? Learn how to operate your camera by understanding its modes, menus and creative controls. You will be introduced to the basic principles of exposure, elements of design and creative composition. In this photography course, you will explore various approaches to produce environmental and studio portraits that best reflect your subjects’ spirit, character, mood and relationships. Emphasis on posing individuals, couples, families and groups. Go on and explore avenues of illustrative and fine art photography of products, scenes, subjects and typically commonplace objects to reveal their intimate details for images that allure, entice, excite and provoke. Produce a series of images and presentations worthy of being considered fine art.

This hands-on workshop offered in partnership with IATSE local Union 295, will introduce you to the four main craft areas involved in the production of theatrical performances: carpentry, rigging, lighting and audio.
