4th Class Power Eng/Power Lab 1 (ENGP 1802)
You will learn the major components of a steam plant, participate in the start
up of the equipment which is similar to that used in industry, learn about and
practice the various types of maintenance required to keep plant equipment
functioning in a safe workplace. You will also perform water testing and
chemical treatment and tasks including gasket cutting, gauge glass cutting
and pump packing. You will be introduced to the operation of computer
controlled systems used to operate plant equipment. Space is limited.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Sask. Government 4th Class
Power Engineering Part A exam OR successful completion of Part A of
approved 4th Class Power Engineering course (direct questions to Les

4th Class Power Eng/Power Lab 2 (ENGP 1803)
You will manipulate steam production with the purpose of operating turbines,
heat exchangers, pumps and auxiliary fuel systems in a functioning high
pressure steam lab. The lab will allow you to bring all of your previously
learned theory and skills from 4th Class Power Engineering Power Lab 1
together in order to validate your knowledge and operating skills. You will
receive hands-on training on plant maintenance tasks, including the
construction of piping systems and shaft alignment. You will have the
opportunity to run a piping system using simulation. Space is limited.
CSA approved footwear and safety glasses required.
Prerequisites: 4th Class Power Engineering Power Lab 1and
successful completion of Part B of an approved 4th Class Power

You will learn about unintentional injury and its impact on our safety
culture. Recent events in the news highlight the importance of our safety
culture. The course will look at several incidents and discuss the impact.
We will address the issue of safety culture and introduce 7 Safety Habits
that can be used on or off the job to reduce unintentional injury, by building
strong safety habits. Some of our safety habits protect us while others may
place us in harm’s way. How are your safety habits? Take the habit
challenge. How are the habits of your employees? Your family? We believe
that the road to Zero is Beyond the Workplace. Delivered in Partnership

7 Safety Habits “That Could Save Your Life” Train the Trainer (SFTY 1807)
How will you as a safety professional or manager improve the safety
culture within your organization? How will you encourage employees to
use safety concepts off the job? We recognize the importance of our safety

The workshop is an opportunity to explore the 7 Safety Habits in detail. We
will consider unintentional injury at home, in the workplace and
everywhere in between. Our goal is to encourage the participant to use the
program to improve his/her own safety habits. The workshop examines
safety culture, our habits and the safety systems. Practical tools will be
provided to assist in the development of the 7 Safety Habits Culture.

GATF - Sheetfed Offset Press Training
SIAST Wascana Campus is pleased to facilitate the GATF Sheetfed Offset Press Training Program. You will be able to work through the resource material independently continuing to work at your workplace. Upon completion of the program, you will be able to write a comprehensive theory exam, which will be evaluated by GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Program) in Pittsburgh, PA. Successful participants will be awarded a certificate directly from GATF, which has international recognition.

Theatre and Stage Training (FILM 1603)
This hands-on workshop offered in partnership with IATSE local Union 295, will introduce you to the four main craft areas involved in the production of theatrical performances: carpentry, rigging, lighting and audio. If you are interested in part-time or full-time employment in the entertainment industry, then this workshop is for you!
