Esthetician is a certificate program that provides knowledge and skill development in preventative skin care and treatments to keep skin healthy and attractive. You will receive training in skin care and facials, make-up and application techniques, eyebrow shaping, waxing and tinting, eyelash application and tinting, manicures, artificial nail application, pedicures, unwanted hair removal, colour consultation and specialized skin care.

Esthetician (Level 1 and 2)

Admission Requirements: Grade 11 and English Language Requirement.
Applicant must complete a SIAST application form, pay an application fee and meet academic entrance requirements to the program.
  Special Admission: Applicants who do not possess the academic qualifications for the program may be admitted if evidence of probable success can be established.  

Standard First Aid and CPR Level “A” are required for occupational and/or clinical placement
Graduates of SIAST’s Hairstylist certificate program only need to complete Esthetician Level 2 classes to complete the Esthetician certificate program

Esthetician Level 2

Level 2 courses build on the knowledge and skills gained in Level 1 with courses in Skin Care and Makeup Techniques, Machine Applied Skin Care, Specialized Facial Treatment, Set-up and Analysis, Epilation, Specialized Manicures and Pedicures, Nail Technology, Spa Body Treatments, Make-up Artistry, Advanced Clinical Skin Care, Specialized Esthetic Treatments, Cosmetic Massage, Advanced Sciences and Esthetics Seminar. You will also participate in two esthetics customer service practicums.

Students interested in Esthetics Level 2 who have a partial Level 1 without their Nail Tech courses must also register for the fall offering of the Nail Tech course. See Nail Tech for more information.

Nail Technician

You will be prepared for the occupation of cutting, trimming, polishing, coloring, tinting, cleansing, applying artificial products and manicuring and pedicuring nails.

Fee: $1400 135 hours
Additional costs: Books (approximately $300), kit (approximately $500)
