Basic Foot Care for Health Care Providers (HLTH 1808)

This workshop is designed for health care providers. It is also appropriate for the lay public or family caregiver. Taking a general wellness approach to foot health, you will learn about prevention of foot problems and dysfunction (including the role of proper footwear), observing feet for various deviations that require attention of health care professionals and community resources for foot care. Basic foot techniques will be practiced. Instructor: Sherry McDonald RN BScN.

EMT-PCP Con Med Ed. (EMER 1626)

This 8-hour SCoP approved CME training day will provide the participant with 40 CME credits. Students are required to participate in the hands on activities and attend the entire day to achieve the 40 CME credits. Topics covered in this 8 hour course include pharmacology update, BVM skill review using patient simulators, ECG interpretation, safe lifting procedures, patient packaging, managing cardiac arrest and CPAP equipment review.

Paramedic Skills and Concepts: Classroom Studies (EMER 1632)

Participants can register to attend SCoP approved lecture based presentations at any of the 3 SIAST EMS programs. Participants join an active EMS class for the day. SIAST has selected appropriate presentations that align to the national occupational competencies for each practitioner level. The learning activities are entirely lecture-based. The participant will not have an opportunity to practice skills or scenarios.

Paramedic Skills and Concepts: Media Studies (EMER 1631)

Participants can arrange to view video or DVD`s at either the Wascana or Kelsey campus libraries. SIAST will provide the participant a list of national occupational competencies that align to their practitioner level. The participant selects the media title they wish to view and has the titled approved by SIAST EHC faculty. The participant will complete a brief questionnaire answering questions about what they have learned.

Primary Care Paramedic Blood Products Module (EMER 1639)

The purpose of the Blood Products Module is to provide a standardized upgrade to continuing medical education for EMS practitioners that will enable Saskatchewan College of Paramedics applicants or members to meet the scope of practice requirements for their practitioner level which may qualify them for Saskatchewan College of Paramedics licensure.
