CPR/First Aid Courses

Standard First Aid meets the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety, Saskatchewan Labour.

All CPR courses are taught according to the guidelines of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and Saskatchewan.


CPR Instructor Renewal (CPR 1808)

To maintain instructor registration status with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, you must meet their eligibility criteria by taking an instructor re-registration course prior to the anniversary date of your third year of registration/re-registration.

Please register at least one month prior to course start to allow time for mailing of course materials and preparation for class.

Prerequisites: Must be a current CPR instructor registered with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan.

CPR - BLS for Healthcare Provider Renewal (CPR 1008)

This course will assist a wide variety of current healthcare professionals to review their skills to respond to several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Upon successful completion you will receive a heart and Stroke Foundation wallet card confirming course completion.

CPR - BLS for Healthcare Providers C (CPR 1007)

The course will prepare a wide variety of current healthcare professionals to recognize several life-threatening emergencies and to provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Upon successful completion you will receive a Heart & Stroke Foundation wallet card confirming course completion.



Prerequisites: Practicing as a regulated healt care professional or student registered in a healthcare program requiring HCP certification

CPR Heartsaver C/AED (CPR 1003)

This course focuses on skill development for health care professionals or targeted responders required to respond to a medical emergency. Course content includes signals and actions of a heart attack and stroke, protocol for entry into the Emergency Medical System, more in-depth theory and practice of adult, child and infant resuscitation skills by one and two rescuers and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Upon successful completion, you will receive a wallet card (confirming course completion) from SIAST.

CPR Heartsaver C/AED Renewal (CPR 1002)

If you are a rescuer who has taken a CPR C/AED course within the last two years, this course provides an opportunity to upgrade and refresh your skills. Course content includes a content review, an update of psychomotor skills and an evaluation of your skills and knowledge.

CPR Instructor Registration (CPR 1807)

You will focus on adult learning principles, sequential teaching, evaluation of CPR skills by course participants, maintenance and disinfection of mannequins, and demonstration of CPR skills. Participants will make presentations on the theory and practise of CPR. Successful course completion allows you to teach CPR/AED courses as outlined by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Please register by deadline date to allow time for mailing of course materials and preparation for class. Some material must be completed prior to first class.

Prerequisites: Completion of BLS for Healthcare Providers C within the last 12 months


Fee: $210 (includes lunch on Sa&Su), 17 hours

First Aid, Standard (FAID 1005)

You will receive basic information about first aid including prevention, assessment and protocol for entry into the Emergency Medical System. You will receive instruction on managing selected accident situations (including bleeding, shock, head and spinal injuries), musculoskeletal injuries, poisoning, environmental injuries, eye, chest, abdominal and crush injuries and medical emergencies. This course meets the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety, Saskatchewan Labour. Upon successful completion you will receive a wallet card (confirming course completion) from SIAST.

You will receive instruction on emergency carries, breathing emergencies (including choking and chest injuries), CPR for an adult (including risk factors, signals and actions of a heart attack and stroke), use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), managing selected accident situations (including bleeding, shock, head and spinal injuries), musculoskeletal injuries, poisoning, environmental (heat and cold related) injuries, eye, abdominal, chest, crush injuries and medical emergencies. This course meets the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety, Saskatchewan Labour. Upon successful completion, you will receive a wallet card (confirming course completion) from SIAST.

You will review breathing emergencies (including choking), CPR for an adult and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), managing selected accident situations (including bleeding, shock, head and spinal injuries), musculoskeletal injuries. Review of signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke, chest injuries, poisoning, environmental (heat and cold related) injuries, and eye, abdominal, chest injuries and medical emergencies will be done in home study before the course via book review. The course meets the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety, Saskatchewan Labour. Upon successful completion, you will receive a wallet card from SIAST confirming course completion.

Review text ((Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED) prior to class.

Prerequisites: Completion of SIAST Standard First Aid and CPR Heartsaver A/AED within the past three years.

First Aid, Standard Renewal (FAID 1006)

If you have taken a SIAST Standard First Aid (FAID 1005) course within the last 3 years, this course provides an opportunity to maintain your certification for another 3 years. Upon successful completion, you will receive a wallet card from SIAST confirming course completion.

Prerequisites: Proof of SIAST FAID 1005 within last 3 years to be presented at class.
